Donation for Madala Hostel fire victims
ALEXANDRA - Families of the Madala Hostel fire get donations from a school.
Victims of the Madala Hostel fire received a donation of clothes and bedding from Ekukhanyisweni Primary School.
The donation was organised by the school’s social services committee in conjunction with the Soul Buddyz committee, said the school’s Caroline Mpshe.
Tshepang Tladi, chairperson of Soul Buddyz committee said seeing pupils at school not wearing uniforms made them eager to lend a helping hand. “It’s what we do, we are a group of children who identify problems in our community and try to come up with solutions,” said Tladi. Most of the pupils at the school come from the area around the hostel.
Parts of Madala Hostel was gutted by a fire when a man set his room alight after a quarrel with his girlfriend.
