Taxify hijackers wanted

ALEXANDRA – Armed suspects dump taxi driver, disappear in his car.

Two suspects are wanted by the Alexandra Police Station for hijacking a taxi and robbing its driver of a cell phone in the township.

The vehicle, a VW Polo Vivo, hasn’t been found. According to Alex Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji, the incident occurred at 3pm on 17 January after the two called the e-hailing Taxify driver to transport them to Colette Drive. He picked them up in the R180 000 worth vehicle at the intersection of Alfred Nzo and 11th avenues. As he drove on Alfred Nzo Avenue, the suspect seated at the back alleged pointed a gun at the victim. His companion in the front passenger seat also produced a gun, pulled up the hand brake and switched off the vehicle’s ignition. They searched the victim, took his R1 700 worth cell phone and forced him out of the vehicle which they drove away.
