ALEXANDRA - Wollworths celebrates World Food Day through planting at Kwa-Bhekilanga.
Food security and nutrition are some of the causes that are cherished by the Woolworths Trust.
On World Food Day employees of the Trust and Food and Trees for Africa delivered fruit to KwaBhekilanga High School and planted vegetables.
The Trust helps address challenges of establishing sustainable food systems for improved food security and nutrition through EduPlant, a national schools permaculture food gardening programme co-ordinated by Food and Trees for Africa.
“Good food produced in sustainable ways is at the core of our business,” said Woolworths’ Zinzi Mgolodela.
Through programmes such as Eduplant, schools are able to learn how to cultivate their own food in an ecologically sustainable manner.
