Man gets spat on and hit on the head with baton in Alex
ALEXANDRA – Victim spat on, treated for head injuries from silent, known attacker.
A man will appear before the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for on an attempted murder charge.
He is also alleged to have spat on a victim.
Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha said the suspect, who is familiar to the victim, was arrested hours after the incident which occurred in the township mid-morning on 21 April.
“The victim, who was coming from his cousin’s place, walked next to the suspect who spat in his face without uttering a word. When asked why he did that, the accused assaulted the victim and hit him with a baton inflicting injuries on his head,” Mbatha said.
The victim was taken to the Alexandra Health Care Centre for treatment and later transferred to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital where he was released on 30 April.
