Christmas cheer for Alex children
ALEXANDRA - A lavish Christmas was thrown for the children of this township by Pick n Pay.
As a way of giving back to the community, Pick n Pay threw a Christmas party for children at the Alex Clinic.
This was part of the company’s social responsibility programme and the children who benefited from it were overjoyed. An excited Nomfundo Mkhize (12) could not stop smiling as she held onto the gift she had received. “This has been a great day and I had lots of fun with my friends. I am happy to be here and the food is so delicious,” she said.
Every year, Pick n Pay hosts such events and provides the food and gifts. Emma Mogale, customer services manager at Pick n Pay, said she was happy with how things turned out and that seeing the children happy made her smile.
Some of the children at the party were from Siyondla uMphakathi, a non-governmental organisation for orphans and vulnerable children. Sylvia Mvumvu, who founded the organisation said, “I am so happy that this is happening because I didn’t have the power to do something like this. It is very difficult when you don’t have a sponsor. Those who are here benefited a lot.”
