Alex hip hop artist makes waves
ALEXANDRA - Inkosi Yama Punchparagraph, Alex's own hip hop artist, also known as Jovislash, is making waves and ready to conquer the world.
Jovislash, aka Inkosi Yama Punchparagraph, is an intensively driven beat-maker, rapper, songwriter, dancer and a stand-up comedian based in Alexandra.
Born Thuso Desmond Mamorare, he’s no ordinary rapper as he fuses his dance moves, facial expression and involves the crowd a lot when performing on stage.
Jovislash has released internet singles since 2009, mostly taken from his mixtapes, The Prologue (2009) and Inkosi Yama Punchparagraph (2012). Jovislash has devoted his life to music production specialising not only in hip-hop but also in house, electro, dub and kwaito.
He has produced or appeared on tracks with the likes of Flabba, L-Tido, Infa, Sean Pages, Red Button, PhatPro, Sbuda P and a lot of emerging artists. He has also had an opportunity to share the stage with prominent South African musicians, including Ifani, Big Nuz, TKZee, Pro (Kid), Psyfo, Reason, Bucie, Donald, Zeus, Zulu-Boy, Arthur Mafokate, Chomie, Abdus, Ms Cosmo and Cash-Time.
Jovislash is currently working on his debut album and was nominated by Hype Magazine as hottest ‘Newcomer’s Delight Rapper nominee 2013. He also performed at The Back To The City Festival this year. His first single Hip Hop has had more than 12 000 downloads and playlisted on various radio stations this year.
Jovislash also performed at Arts Alive Joburg International Festival 2012 and also produced Flabba’s Sama award winning single Poetry Book 2012. He is also founder and host of The Raplat4m Hip Hop Show which is co-hosted by YFM’s DJ Sabby.
