Two Americans of KIPP Global Fellowship Programme which is an academy that grooms school leaders will visit Alexandra soon.
Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha of Khulula Foundation, who together with her husband, Thulani, are the brains behind the establishment of Kgololo Academy, a world-class school in Alexandra, said the two will be coming to Alex to assess the progress and preparations for the establishment of the school.
Tolbert-Mbatha has spent six months at the Chicago-based academy being groomed for her future role as head of the proposed school. A native American married to a South African from Alexandra, Tolbert-Mbatha took time off from her busy schedule of setting up the school to attend the leadership training programme.
“My stay at KIPP was divided into time on course work at the University of Chicago and on being groomed at one of the high performing KIPP schools for my leadership role at Kgololo Academy,” she said.
“It was such an amazing and inspiring opportunity to learn all the leadership strategies from one of the best leadership institutions in the world. I hope to use the knowledge gained to make Kgololo Academy a shining success.”
KIPP Global Fellowship Programme is an American national institution with offices all over the world. It has more than 140 schools under its guidance in America and nurtures more than 50 000 school leadership students. “KIPP is one of the most successful school leadership programmes and it was a pleasure to learn from the best,” she said Tolbert-Mbatha.
