The 39-year-old man said he was walking along Lenin Road in Ext 7 next to the Marlboro Gautrain station when he was approached by three men who asked him what he was carrying in his bag.
He told them he had clothes in the bag and then one produced a firearm and demanded that he hand over the bag.
Police said no shots were fired in the robbery and that they were still looking for the suspects.
