Joburg Zoo adopts tigers

Finally, the Johannesburg Zoo has bragging rights as they are currently homing another great feline of the jungle.

This change came after a pair of tigers from the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa was moved temporarily, to the Johannesburg Zoo, to make it their home.

In a statement released by the National Zoological Gardens, spokesperson Angeline Schwan, said the move was due to the upcoming construction at their mountain enclosure.

The white tiger, Winston and his mate Leia, will be housed at the zoo for the next six to nine months.

“The vital revamp of the enclosure starts this month on the three tiger and lion enclosures,” Schwan explained.

City Parks spokesperson Jenny Moodley confirmed that for the next few months the Johannesburg Zoo will be home to the two tigers.
