DA engages with small businesses

ALEXANDRA - The Democratic alliance is out in force engaging with small businesses in Alexandra.

The Democratic Alliance is engaging with small businesses in Alexandra to understand their concerns and challenges.

The party is conducting an ongoing small business campaign in Setswetla and other sections of Alexandra, to ascertain the businesses’ challenges and offer advisory services to help them survive the harsh economic environment.

“Most of them are ‘necessity’ entrepreneurs for survival purposes after failing to get jobs,” said Bongani Nkomo, the party’s constituency operations manager for Alexandra. “They are vegetable vendors, barbers, cobblers, taxi owners/drivers, welders and hawkers on a small scale, but lack business knowledge or skills.

“They don’t have secure facilities, electricity to refrigerate their perishable goods and struggle daily to make commendable income. As we are not in government, we will only help to direct them with information on sources of support and also training to improve chances of success of their businesses.”
