Win tickets to Mother’s Day concert at the zoo

Pack a picnic and head to the heart of one of Joburg’s green jewels, the Johannesburg Zoo for Mother’s Day.

Treat your mom to a celebration of family and music at this year’s 702 Mother’s Day Concert at the Zoo with Spar.

South African performers Elvis Blue and Jamali, accompanied by The Chamber Orchestra of Johannesburg under the baton of musician and conductor Kutlwano Masote, will take to the stage on 11 May.

They will be complemented by acapella group, Complete, to bring visitors an afternoon of nostalgic hits and contemporary classics.

The zoo always offers plenty of entertainment for the children – they can explore the natural wonders of the world through the zoo’s world-class exhibitions, or burn off some energy in the supervised play area.

This year, the organisers have added a special item to the show just for children. Pedro the Music Man will be entertaining the audience with his special blend of music and storytelling.

For moms, the concert offers a rare opportunity to put their feet up or get down and boogy, depending on their preference.

“702’s Solid Gold weekends are extremely popular among our listeners, partly because the music has such broad appeal – it has the ability to cross generational lines,” said Talk Radio 702 station manager, Pheladi Gwangwa.

“The concert will offer the perfect soundtrack to a family day out.”

The 702 Mothers Day Concert at the Zoo has been running since 1991, and is now an institution on the Gauteng calendar. Families from across the province and from diverse backgrounds come together each year to share something we all have in common – our gratitude to our moms.
