This community outreach project’s success has been seen throughout Gauteng. It has had a visible impact on the patrons who attend while allowing the aged from various areas to meet each other in a day of fun and caring.

This year, the programme moves to the Uncle Toms Hall in Soweto on 4 June were 350 pensioners, partially-abled members of the community, and those who work in hospices and orphanages in the area will be treated to a sumptuous meal served by their well-known jazz musos.

There will also be a celebrity talk while a representative from a local clinic will discuss health issues and give advice on easy exercises that people can do. Music industry personalities such as Press and Wanda Baloyi will serve lunch to guests and they will also be given a gift on departure.

Event producer, Peter Tladi of T-Musicman said, “The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz community outreach programme, Jazz Cares has always been my token of appreciation towards the communities that have continued to support us throughout the years.

“We believe in giving back hence we engage with community stakeholders in uplifting the lives of our people. We hope to demonstrate that entertainment is for everyone. It is an active experience that reminds us that everybody belongs to a community and forms part of it.”
