Ex-lover assaults woman after getting the silent treatment
ALEXANDRA - A former lover of a 25-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly beating her for refusing to entertain a conversation with him.
A former boyfriend of a 25-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting her for refusing to talk to him.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the suspect had since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in connection with a charge of assault. Maphakela said he allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend of 19th Avenue when she refused to engage with him.
The suspect is said to have grabbed the woman by the neck and pushed her to the ground as she was walking to visit a friend. As a result she sustained minor lacerations to her arms.
The woman screamed for help and two men came to her rescue and effected a citizen’s arrest. Police were called and they took the man into custody to the Alexandra Police Station.
