Girls are worth it
ALEXANDRA - Xoliswa Moraka, founder and executive director of Purposeful Women and Girls Network (PWGN) in Alexandra, has launched a social media campaign titled 'Women & Girls With Dreams'.
Xoliswa Moraka, founder and executive director of Purposeful Women and Girls Network in Alexandra has launched a social media campaign, Women and Girls With Dreams.
“This campaign was created to celebrate SA Women’s Month by focusing on creating awareness of the potential and desires of women and girls around the world,” said Moraka.
“I am hopeful that with these conversations we can formulate a strategy on how we can create an environment that will impact and support the empowerment and development of young women and girls.”
More than 30 young women and girls who attended the launch were inspired and encouraged to write their dreams down and had a photograph taken of them by a professional photographer. “Our goal is to collect 10 000 of these photographs from young women and girls by the end of the campaign on 31 August this year,” she added. The photos will be posted on the network’s Facebook page and Twitter account.
The network is a social co-operative founded in Alexandra by five young women with the mission of building a community and empowerment network. This network facilitates and supports women and young girls to identify and fulfil their life dreams.
Through motivational seminars, coaching and mentorship programmes, the network hopes to inspire, empower, equip and connect women and girls globally around the core idea that they are worth it, and they can be successful, purposeful and fulfilled.
