Brazen thieves rob man just outside cop shop
ALEXANDRA - Three brazen thieves allegedly undressed a man of his leather jacket and stole his cellphone just a stone throw from the cop shop.
Three over-confident thieves removed a man’s leather jacket and stole it along with his cellphone – just a stone’s throw away from Alexandra Police Station.
The victim was walking in a passageway in 13th Avenue on his way home to the Far Eastbank, when two women and a man ordered him to stop because the women were relieving themselves in the passage.
When he complied, the man then came up to him and took off his jacket and stole his cellphone.
The victim then decided to go and report the case to the police. Just as he was about to enter the charge office, the suspects came running up to him and gave him back his jacket, but not the phone. A commotion ensued which attracted the officers inside the cop shop.
The victim then explained what had happened and the three suspects were arrested. They will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on a charge of common robbery.
