Jealous man assaults car guard
NORWOOD - A car guard in William Road in Norwood was allegedly assaulted with an empty bottle by a jealous man.
According to the victim, he was busy assisting motorists when he was approached by a man. He said the perpetrator asked him to move away from the area as he (car guard) was making a lot of money from motorist’s tips. The car guard stated that he refused to leave the area. The suspect then dissappeared for few minutes and then returned carrying an empty bottle. The suspect hit the car guard with the bottle on the top of his right eye.
Norwood police spokesperson Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said, “The car guard was terribly injured and was bleeding and swollen. He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.” Tsoanyane added the victim told the police he could identify the perpetrator. She said, “He told the police that although he didn’t know his name, he knew his residential place.”
