ALEXANDRA - An alleged chicken thief has been arrested by Alexandra police.
An alleged chicken thief has been arrested by Alexandra police.
According to police spokesperson Warrant officer Moses Maphakela, the owner of a chicken outlet in Wynberg on the outskirts of Alexandra had for a long time suspected one of his employees of stealing chickens.
On 7 November at about 3:30pm, the employer decided to verify this and trailed the suspect as he took out three large bags of rubbish. The employer followed the suspect all the way out of the chicken outlet and onto Watt Street where he then searched him.
To his horror, his suspicions came true as he found the suspect with three chickens in the large garbage bags he was carrying. Police were called and the suspect was arrested for theft and has since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to answer for allegations of theft.
