Give the gift of Christmas
ALEXANDRA - A child care centre is appealing to the community to send some festive cheer its way and to assist with showing disadvantaged children the joy of Christmas.
The Thusong Be My Friend Foundation, based at the Thusong Youth Centre, is an organisation that cares for the orphaned and abandoned children of Alexandra. Under the dedicated management of Beauty More, the foundation seeks to provide a normal childhood and a viable future for these disadvantaged children, teaching them to read and write, and providing everyday care.
As the festive season approaches, and families look forward to spending time together in celebration, the foundation hopes to provide its children with the opportunity to create their own happy festive memories. In association with Aretsosaneng Events Services and Equipment Hire, an events management company based in Alexandra, the foundation will host a Christmas party on 13 December at the Thusong Youth Centre, and it is appealing to the community for help in making this a joyful and memorable Christmas for Thusong’s children.
While funds are not needed, the organisers ask that community members donate whatever they can afford in terms of gifts and entertainment on the day. Christmas presents, clothes, school stationery and bags are all desperately needed. To provide a day of fun, donations of refreshments, a jumping castle or trampoline, face painting activities, and a party photographer will all be warmly welcomed – as will a visit from a bearded Father Christmas.
“Please help where you can with anything that you can afford,” said Joseph Nale, founder of Aretsosaneng Events Services and Equipment Hire.
“We need to give hope and happiness to those who can’t afford it. Hope you will join us in giving a merry memorable Christmas and happy humble new year.,”
