Gun-toting elderly man arrested
ALEXANDRA - A gun-toting old man who threatened three youths at the corner of 15th Avenue and Joe Nhlanhla Street has been arrested.
A gun-toting elderly man who threatened three youths at the corner of 15th Avenue and Joe Nhlanhla Street has been arrested.
According to Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the three youths were approached by the man. Two of the youths ran away and the man allegedly pointed his licensed firearm at the third young boy.
The man apparently threatened to “shoot his head off” and was joined by two other young boys who pelted the victim with stones. The man also allegedly hit the youth on the head with the butt of his firearm.
Police arrived on the scene and arrested the gun-toting man ,while the victim was rushed to Alex Clinic and later transferred to Edenvale General Hospital for treatment for multiple injuries.
The suspect’s firearm has been confiscated and he will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on a charges of assault and pointing of a firearm.
