An injured man suspected to have been severely beaten was found in the boot of a BMW driving around in Alex at about 1.30am.

Patrolling police were alerted to the BMW by community members who had heard the screams of a man and came out to see what was happening. The patrol car turned into 13th Avenue and noticed a BMW driving around without headlights.

The police then flagged the car to stop and as it stopped, one of the occupants jumped out and fled. The police swiftly got out of their car and approached the BMW which had the driver and another man inside.

They searched the car and discovered a badly-injured man inside the boot. No motive was given for the assault of the injured man and why they were driving around with him in the boot of the car.

Police arrested the two men for assault with the possibility of adding another charge of kidnapping. The two suspects will appear soon in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court. The injured man was taken to the Alex Clinic for treatment.
