ALEXANDRA - A drunk man who beat up his girlfriend after accusing her of cheating on him has been arrested by the police.

The man will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of assault. According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the suspect arrived home drunk and started looking at the messages on his girlfriend’s cellphone.
He noticed she had received several calls from unknown men to him, and accused her of cheating on him. An argument ensued and before the 30-year-old girlfriend could explain, the suspect kicked her and chased her out of the house.
The woman then went straight to the police station to report the matter and the suspect was arrested.
