Police apprehend armed gang
ALEXANDRA - Guns and ammunition and, some of the suspected stolen items found with the arrested gang.
Alex police arrested six men and a woman for illegal possessions of firearms and suspected stolen property.
The gang was arrested at a house in the township in a joint operation with the Flying Squad acting on a tip-off from the public.
He said the guns and ammunition found would be sent for ballistic testing to determine if they had been used to commit other crimes.
The suspects remains in custody while police conduct further investigations ahead of their court appearance.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Office Manare Ramotshela said the tip-off signified the co-operation of the public with the police in effecting law enforcement.
