VIDEO: Caxton Kefir taste test

JOBURG - In recent weeks, the group editor of Caxton Johannesburg North Megan Mclean has brought a fermented milk product known as Kefir into the office, and Caxton Local Newspapers had a taste test with the staff of the Johannesburg North Office.

Kefir is made with raw cow’s milk and kefir grains, a form of yeast, which are mixed in a clean glass jar.

Once it has been mixed, the jar’s lid must be secured tightly with a cloth and a rubberband and left for 24 to 48 hours for the milk to ferment. Once it has been fermented, the grains are strained and kept for the next batch, while the milk is consumed.

There are a great deal of health benefits as Kefir contains probiotic bacteria which has a highly-positive reaction to one’s health, including improvement in bone density, skin and the gastro-intestinal system.
