Son beats up mom for not giving him R20
ALEXANDRA - An enraged boy beat up his mother and kicked the pots on the stove she was using to prepare him and other family members some food because she could give him the R20 he had demanded.

Spokesperson of the Alexandra cluster of police stations, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the mother was cooking for the family at about 8pm when her son arrived home and demanded to be given R20.
When the unemployed mother replied she didn’t have the money, her son was infuriated and kicked some pots off a hot plate that she was using to prepare some supper for the family.
The son who said his younger brother owned him R10 stormed outside where he hit his brother with a brick. The mother grabbed her eldest son but he turned on her and beat her up. The younger son came to her rescue and pulled his brother away.
He then went back inside the house and started smashing cups, plates and other kitchen utensils to the value of about R1 000. The police were called in who arrested the boy.
Maphakela said he would appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to face charges of common assault and malicious damage to property.
