Premier announces anti-xeno rally in Alex

ALEXANDRA - Gauteng Premier David Makhura has announced the province will hold an anti-xenophobia rally in Alexandra this Friday (24 April).

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has announced that the province will hold an anti-xenophobia rally in Alexandra on 24 April.

Addressing the crowd of people who came to witness the court appearance of four men accused of the murder of Mozambican national, Emmnauel Sithole (35), who was stabbed and stoned to death in an Alex street, Makhura said the rally will help mend relations between South Africans and their African brothers and sisters.

He did not say where the rally would be held, but urged residents of Alexandra and foreign nationals to come in their numbers for this important and historic gathering which seeks to address the animosity that is creeping in and disturbing ‘our good and cordial’ relations.

Makhura, who was accompanied by his MEC for Community Safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, urged residents to unite against criminals and not against foreigners.

“We urge you to unite to protect foreign nationals who have come here in South Africa in search of employment and to help create that employment as well,” he said.
