Man gets four years for housebreaking
ALEXANDRA - Alex man is serving a four year sentence for housebreaking with the intention to commit an unknown offence.
An Alex man is serving a four-year sentence for housebreaking.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the man, Given Hlongwane, was convicted by the Alex Magistrates’ Court for an act he committed on 21 January.
The court heard that at 9.30am on that day, Ngoako Modika of Cadman Street, Tsutsumani, was sitting in his living room and heard a window breaking. He went to check and found an unknown man hiding in one of the rooms.
The homeowner then asked the man why he had broken in without permission. The man couldn’t justify his presence and Modika called the police who arrested Hlongwane. Nothing was reported stolen.
