Police arrest more than 190 suspects
ALEXANDRA - POLICE seized 11 handguns and arrested more than 190 suspects during a crime prevention operation in various parts of the province.
Areas included Alexandra, Benoni, Boksburg, Katlehong, Orlando and Honeydew.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said police arrested 102 suspects in Thembisa, and in Benoni illegal mining equipment and dagga worth more than R300 000 was confiscated.
A total of 19 suspects will be charged with possession of unlicensed firearms when they appear in court.
