Caring for man’s best friend
ALEXANDRA - Besides choosing friends from other human species, dogs are man’s next best friends.
Dogs are man’s best friends, and because of this they deserve the best that can be expected from a friend to keep them healthy and happy to prolong their life so that the relationship between man and dog can last longer.
A group of youths seem to understand this sentiment and care about their canine friends’ needs. Despite a chilly winter breeze, Joseph Chabalala, Nhlanhla Mabasa, Casper Mabhena and Madala Mbatha were exercising their pit bulls on Alfred Nzo Street in Eastbank as they usually do. Mbatha said it was essential to keep the dogs healthy.
“They also provide security in the home, a role which can’t always be entrusted to humans who at times are prone to criminality,” said Mbatha.
He added that he and his friends also keep the dogs healthy by grooming them at home and at the occasional dog day pampering provided by the Sandton SPCA and other animal-loving organisations.
