Man recieves suspended sentence for stripping stolen car
ALEXANDRA - An Alex man received an eight year sentence wholly suspended for five years after the Alexandra Magistrate Court found him guilty for the possession of a reported stolen motor vehicle.
An Alex man recently received an eight-year sentence wholly suspended for five years after the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court found him guilty of possessing a stolen motor vehicle.
The court heard that on 11 July, Mandla Mtshali of 4th Avenue, was found by patrolling police stripping a VW Jetta 3 in his backyard with the assistance of another man he had hired. When the police asked what they were doing and for the details of the owner of the vehicle, Mtshali is said to have responded inaudibly.
The police checked the car’s ownership and found it to have been reported stolen in Midrand two days earlier. This resulted in Mtshali’s arrest, however, his assistant was not arrested.
