WARNING: Criminals pretend to be job seekers

JOBURG – Residents are warned to keep be careful when hiring job seekers on the streets who offer various services.

Lieutenant Colonel Andre de Klerk of Sandton police said, “I would like to sensitise people who pick up job seekers such as builders, carpenters, tilers, electricians and plumbers from the streets.”

He explained that criminals will use this as an opportunity to pretend to be job seekers only to enter people’s homes and rob them.

“Get a copy of the worker’s ID number for reference before using their services,” added De Klerk.
