A not-to-be-missed play this weekend

ALEXANDRA - Entertainment starved Alexandrians looking to start the weekend on a high need look no further than the Olive Tree Theatre in Wynberg.

Entertainment-starved Alexandrians looking to start the weekend on a high, need look no further than the Olive Tree Theatre in Wynberg.

This with its feature thriller, The Core, written and directed by Selaelo Maredi. The play will run for two days on 16 and 17 October.

A theatre advert lauds it as a drama which is morally challenging, culturally uplifting and socially motivating and is about a trail of events in the life of a young woman, Maserole, who becomes a victim of human error.

She is born a normal, intelligent child, full of zeal, with great talent and dreams, which is normal of most children. Sadly, the dreams are turned into nightmares because of the unkind society in which she grew up, and the gloomy atmosphere from the surrounding poverty.

She survives these challenges through the resilience she has built due to the frustrations she had to endure in her pursuit of survival.

The play times are 3pm and 7pm on 16 October; and 6 pm on 17 October.

Entry is R40 per person and R30 per person for block bookings.
