ALEXANDRA - A shy Mbali Qotyana is riding the crest of a wave as an SABC TV presenter who is also passionate about giving young women a platform to voice their issues and being feminine.

Qotyana, currently the host of Rise which is described as an intergenerational lifestyle talk show designed to encourage women to aspire to be greater than their circumstances. The show airs on SABC 1 every Tuesday at 6pm.
In Alex for the launch of South Africa’s first dedicated health and lifestyle TV channel, The Goodlife Network, the 21-year-old said, “I hope to grow in the industry and one day become a powerful and influential lady to whom fellow women and young girls can look up to for inspiration as a role model for them.”
She co-hosts Rise along with Harvard University graduate and Soul City CEO, Lebogang Ramafoko; and seasoned media player, Kgomotso Matsunyane. Also joining them on the couch is actress Khanyisile Mazibuko, who provides the youth perspective, giving the show the multi-layered aspect that drives a balanced and intergenerational conversation.
Rise is a product of the Soul City Institute which launched this hard-hitting talk show for Mzansi’s women which tackles tough questions. It engages the primary target audience of females aged between 15 and 24 on a range of taboo issues that would otherwise fall through the cracks.
Since launching in May, Rise is said to have received overwhelming public support and quickly secured its spot as one of the top-ranking talk shows in South Africa.
