Man detained for allegedly killing friend
ALEXANDRA - lex man was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrate Court for allegedly murdering his friend.
An Alex man was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for allegedly murdering his friend and will reappear in court for a bail application on 28 November.
The court heard that at 10am on 8 August on 8th Avenue, Alexandra, Tebogo Kaingani (24), allegedly stabbed his colleague, Mpho Mojaji, twice in the chest leading to his death. This after a quarrel was prompted by Kaingani who accused Mojaji of stealing old chairs which were to be added to his recycling business. This resulted in the accused pulling out a knife and allegedly stabbing his colleague.
The incident was witnessed by their other colleague, Siphiwe (surname unknown) and a female, Philile (surname unknown). It is alleged that Siphiwe tried to stop the fight, but failed and left the scene. Philile is said to have urged the accused to use fists and not a knife, but the suspect failed to listen to her. After the deceased had fallen to the ground following the stabbing, the accused is said to have tried to stop the bleeding with his hat, but failed.
Alex police and Emergency Management Services were called and declared the victim dead on the scene. The suspect was arrested.
