Support Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer
SANDTON – Mugg & Bean will be raising awareness for children fighting cancer by constructing the first ever Mugg & Bean Wall of Generosity at its branch in Sandton City on 28 November.
Reports show that every year, between 800 and 1000 South African children are diagnosed with cancer. However, the more alarming fact is that at least half of these children are not diagnosed in time.
Mugg & Bean has been supporting the Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer Foundation since 2012 and to date has raised over half a million rand for the charity. For every cupcake that is sold at a Mugg & Bean nationwide, a portion of the sales are donated to the Foundations cause.
This year, Mugg & Bean will be constructing the Wall of Generosity in order to create awareness for the early detection of cancer. The wall will hold thousands of cupcakes that will be given away to members of the public in Sandton City.
Lee-Ann Cullingworth, Marketing Manager at Mugg & Bean said, “We wanted to create something special that would bring people joy and encourage them to share in the generosity of the day. Ultimately, it is a way for us to raise awareness for the plight of so many adults and children suffering from cancer.”
Each person who receives a cupcake from the Wall of Generosity will be asked to write down the name of their ‘cancer hero’ – someone they know who has battled cancer – on their hand, and then pose for a picture holding up the cupcake with that hand.
This act will signify the support for those who have suffered with cancer and support the drive for awareness of early detection in children. Two copies of the picture will be printed out – one for you to keep and one to be pinned onto the Wall of Generosity to signify the thousands of people who are fighting cancer. The public is also encourage to share the pictures on social media platforms using the hashtag #cupcakeformyhero.
