Yenzani children in need of school fees for next year

JOBURG - Yenzani Children's Home is urgently appealing for sponsorship for four children to attend special needs schools next year.

In a statement, Sanne Mirk of Yenzani, said the four children are unable to cope in mainstream schools. “Due to early childhood trauma and a range of conditions including brain injuries, epilepsy, post-traumatic stress disorder and attention deficit disorder, the four have to attend a special needs school. They experience bullying and face a general lack of understanding around their specific needs,” said Mirk.

She stated that government remedial schools were few and overcrowded and that some of the children from Yenzani did better at special needs schools.

“While we have managed to secure discounted rates at schools, the cost of fees and transport, which is R3 000 per child per month, is still more than we can manage on our own,” she said.
