ALEXANDRA - A hammer wielding man who was embroiled in a fight with another ignored police orders and allegedly knocked his victim unconscious.
A man who was embroiled in a fight with another man recently ignored police orders and allegedly knocked his victim unconscious with a hammer.
According to Alex police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, two Alex police officers were on patrol on 14 November at about 5pm when they received a radio message about a fight in Tsutsumani’s Ext 7.
The officers arrived at the scene and found two men, one armed with a hammer, and shouted at them to stop but the ‘hammer man’ is said to have hit the victim who fell unconscious.
The victim was said to be bleeding profusely and the officers jumped out of their car to stop the ‘hammer man’ from allegedly inflicting more injuries to the victim.
As the officers struggled to control the ‘hammer man’, he is said to have kept on kicking and yelling insults at the victim. The officers finally managed to contain the suspect and paramedics were called to the scene.
Both men, who were bleeding at the time, were treated onsite. The victim was then rushed to Alex Clinic while the ‘hammer man’ was arrested by police and was detained at Alexandra Police Station.
