ALEXANDRA - A man was nabbed in a stop and search operation by Alex police after he was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with six rounds of ammunition.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the suspect was stopped and searched on 9 January and failed to produce a licence for the gun and the ammunition in his possession.
He appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 11 January charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and will appear again in the same court on 19 January for a bail hearing.
