Bail denied to man accused of rape
KEW- A relaxed day turned into an unpleasant evening for a 17-year-old in Alexandra when she decided to take a walk with her boyfriend's brother.
The 17-year-old, who was relaxing with her sister, was asked by the accused if she would like to take a walk to find her boyfriend, not knowing how unpleasant the evening walk would turn out.
She agreed to take a walk while her younger sister stayed at home. The two of them walked about a block in the hope of finding her boyfriend. The accused saw some of his friends who directed them to London Road in Kew, where her boyfriend was apparently last seen. The female then noticed that she didn’t know her surroundings and raised her concerns with the accused. He then allegedly became aggressive and told her that she must not be stupid.
Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela of Bramley Police Station said, “[The accused allegedly] pulled the victim towards a nearby mobile toilet and told her to take her clothes off.” The victim refused and it is alleged the accused forcibly removed her clothing.
Maphakela said, “The suspect allegedly pushed the victim against the toilet and started raping her without using a condom, threatening her not to tell anyone.”
The victim rushed back home after the alleged ordeal and confided in her sister-in-law, who was the only one home. They then reported the matter to the police.
Maphakela said, “Details that were supplied by the victim led the police to find the suspect.”
The accused was detained at Bramley Police Station. Bail was denied.
Police are investigating the case. Updates to follow.
