Court to re-instate drug case involving teacher

ALEXANDRA - The Alexandra Magistrates Court will reinstate a case of alleged drug possession and use involving a school teacher.

Alexandra Magistrates’ Court is set to re-instate a case of alleged drug possession, and use thereof, involving a school teacher.

This after the case was struck out of the court roll due to a delay in the receipt of a forensic test report from the drug laboratory.

The case stems from the teacher’s arrest in January last year by Alex police who were on routine operation in Alexandra when they saw a double cab vehicle parked along a street. It was said that on close scrutiny, the police saw a ‘white’ man inside. When asked what he was doing, the man allegedly told them that he was waiting for colleagues who had gone into a house next to the vehicle. Police were let into the house and found two other ‘white’ men, one of whom was the teacher, next to a table with a black plastic bag containing dagga on it. The men were asked about the ownership of the bag but declined ownership.

Police searched the suspects and allegedly found two small plastic bags containing a substance suspected to be heroine. The teacher who claimed to reside in Orange Groove and to be from Mitchell’s Plein, Cape Town originally, said, he could explain the matter in court but declined ownership or possession of the drugs.

The case continues.
