Bank spruces up Alex school
ALEXANDRA – A leading bank spruces up Ekukhanyisweni Primary School.
Volunteers from Standard Bank’s Rivonia branch partnered with Meals on Wheels on a mission to spruce up Ekukhanyisweni Primary School.
Close to 20 volunteers from the bank and Meals on Wheels descended on the school to revamp the jungle gym and repair broken rungs, splash a new coat of paint on the school’s prefabricated classrooms, draw and paint murals and affix wall heaters.
Zandile Khumalo, Meals on Wheels makeover manager, said the school was chosen because it is part of Standard Bank’s corporate social investment project.
She said the refurbishment may not be completed on a single visit, and thus the bank will arrange another visit when its volunteers will complete the work.
“We will wait to hear from the bank as to when we can come back again to complete the outstanding chores,” said Khumalo, who added that a donation of chairs and desks would also be made to the school.
