Premiership trophy to be handed over in last game of season
JOBURG - The Premier Soccer League, along with its sponsors have decided to hand over the Absa Premiership trophy at the very last game of the season.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL), together with league sponsors, Absa, have announced that the Absa Premiership trophy will be handed to the champions on the last weekend of the 2015/16 season.
This is in line with tradition for the past three seasons. The last block of fixtures will be played on 21 May and all those fixtures will kick-off at 3pm. Simultaneous kick-offs will also apply in the last two block fixtures on 11 May at 7.30pm and 21 May at 3pm.
The PSL, together with Absa, have prepared for all scenarios for the last weekend of the premiership, should the championship race go to the last fixture of the season.
PSL acting CEO Mato Madlala said, “As we are left with less than three weeks of Absa Premiership football, it is important for us to communicate this information so that supporters can make the necessary preparations to travel to where their club will be playing on the last day of the championship race.
“We also want to afford our partners, Absa, with an opportunity to plan all the logistics involved in the Absa Premiership trophy handover. We look forward to the exciting last few days in the season championship race and the relegation battle. We wish all our clubs the best of luck.”
