Men lose bail after committing another crime
ALEXANDRA – Court revokes R5 000 bail of each of three men.
The Alexandra Magistrates’ Court revoked bail of R5 000 to each of three Alex men charged with armed house robbery with a fourth accomplice in Savoy last year.
The three are now back in jail after being arrested for the possession of illegal firearms.
The accused were granted bail for the house robbery committed on 24 August. They were alleged to have been armed with knives when they robbed the family of personal and household possessions. It is said thy were hiding behind a pile of bricks in the yard before they pounced on a male victim as he struggled to open a gate they allegedly had tampered with.
The victim was pulled into the garage where they searched him and took his Samsung cellphone, leather jacket, wallet with bank cards, R100 in cash and a gold wedding ring.
Before they could take him into the house, the accused were disturbed by the sound of a vehicle at the gate. Three of them rushed out to check and were arrested by the Community Action Support guards. The fourth accused, who remained with the victim, was approached by a guard. When asked for his identity, he claimed that the victim was his friend, but he was also arrested.
After being released on bail, one of them was arrested in Krugersdorp for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and the other two were arrested for a similar offence in Randburg.
The case continues.
