Boksburg man held up in driveway robbery in Alex

ALEXANDRA - A man was robbed of more than R3 000 in the driveway of a home in 4th Avenue when he came to collect company debt of R450.

A Boksburg man was held up in a driveway armed robbery at a house in 4th Avenue, Alex, when he went to collect a company debt of R450 from the resident of the house.

The man said he could not find the woman he was to collect the money from, but instead found a man and a woman who introduced themselves as her grandchildren.

As he walked back to his car parked in the driveway, he was approached by four men who separated to open the way for him to pass in between them. As he passed, the victim felt what he described as a cold object on the back of his neck and the assailants told him to stand still or they would kill him.

One of the men stood in front of the victim and put a firearm to his forehead while one of the other suspects searched him.

The suspect grabbed his wristwatch worth R600, a tablet, and cash to the value of R3 610 which the victim had hidden in his socks. They ordered the victim to then quietly return to the vehicle while they escaped.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, said no arrests have been made as the police were still investigating the case.
