VERUSHKA INCE: In my opinion, life imprisonment will be an appropriate sentence. The crime was premeditated and his disability should not be considered. He needed arms and a brain to commit the murder and he did. He should go to jail.
PATRICK KHUMALO: South Africa should have compassion for the former athlete. I think a reduced sentence should be given to him. The judge should consider that he has spent some time in prison and has definitely learnt his lesson.
NOKUTHULA HLATSHWAYO: I think 25 years is the minimum he should get. I have yet to see remorse and his disability should not be a factor.
FLORENCE THAKANYE: In my culture when someone does something like what he did, they would get a life sentence. That would be fair, regardless of his disability.
SOPHONIA MOKADI: He represented us on a world stage and because of that I think a sentence less than 10 years would be fine. He has shown great remorse and he must be forgiven. No one knows the truth of what really happened.
PAIGE ALBYN: I think the whole situation is unfortunate. The judge must hand down a 15-year sentence. I feel sorry for the family and for their loss.
JUNIOR KAZADI: For me four years will be sufficient. His disability should play a big part in the sentencing. My heart breaks for him.
MARISSA MEYER: Oscar should be jailed for at least 15 years. He murdered Reeva. I think he’s been lying to the media hoping to get away with it. His testimony was filled with holes and because of his status, he thought we would feel pity for him and let him get a light sentence.
SIRI SHAKTI: He killed her, he should get a life sentence. However, karma will take care of him.
