Mafika apologises for league disruptions

ALEXANDRA - The normal fixtures of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association will resume on the weekend of 2 and 3 July.

The secretary general of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Mafika Morajane has apologised to his affiliates for the disruption of their various league matches.

The disruptions were caused by the ongoing Maimane Alfred Phiri (Map) Games 2016 and celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the June 16 uprisings. The juniors tournament has been completed but the seniors are currently in full swing.

“We would like to sincerely offer our apologies to all our affiliates, more especially to our teams in the ANLFA Promotional League, which had picked up momentum and we were beginning to see the gap narrowing between log leaders and the second placed team,” Morajane said.

He also apologised to the community of Alexandra and the parents who go to watch the association’s league games when their children play.

The league is expected to resume its normal fixtures on the weekend of 2 and 3 July. “We always engage our affiliates in situations like this and they are well-informed and understand our predicament,” he added.
