DA positive on Joburg win

JOBURG – Poll finds that the Democratic Alliance has a good chance of taking Johannesburg from the ANC.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is confident they can win the City of Johannesburg come elections on 3 August.

An independent poll by research company, IPSOS, found that the DA’s support was almost on par with that of the African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg and two other metros.

National spokesperson of the Democratic Alliance, Phumzile van Damme said the results of the poll were encouraging and was a reflection of people yearning for a shift. “This shows that the people of South Africa are hungry for change and they will show this when voting on 3 August.”

According to the poll, 31 percent of voters in Johannesburg will vote for the ANC while 29 percent will vote for the Democratic Alliance and only 10 percent will vote for the EFF.

The poll also found that 20 percent of voters in all three metros were undecided. Van Damme claimed the DA was working hard on the ground to convince all those voters who are still undecided to vote for them.
