Man denied bail for attempted murder
ALEXANDRA - Man denied bail for attempted murder of an acquaintance.
An Alex man was denied bail and remanded in custody by Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for an alleged attempted murder.
The victim was known to the accused.
The suspect will reappear in court after the investigation is concluded.
The accused and victim were said to have been drinking at a shebeen in Eastbank at night. They got into a fight and the accused drew a firearm which he fired, shooting the accused in the neck.
The accused fled and an ambulance took the injured victim to hospital where he was released a few days later. Witnesses were unable to state the cause of the altercation.
The accused, who disappeared from the area, was later arrested and denied bail after witnesses claimed they heard him asking about the victim and saying that he wanted to finish him off.
The case continues.
