A wake-up call for ANC, readers say

Mandla Mbekwa of Alex News took to the streets and spoke to local residents about the recent Local Municipal Elections. He asked them how they feel about the decline of the ANC in the recent polls? And if it is a sign of things to come for the elections in 2019? Here is what they had to say …
Vusi Ndlungwane: I am motivated by the change that seems to be happening in our country. The ANC has done a lot for us but, let’s face it, they have become way too comfortable, so the decline shows that the people on the ground have noticed that we are in desperate need of change to drive us forward as a country, it also shows me that the voice of the people can still pull together if we come together.
Shane Skefile: Honestly speaking I think the ANC is lacking leadership skills. I feel that the people in charge should step up or move aside or else they will continue losing support.
Bueren Davids: Ever since Mbeki left, the party has seen difficult times and everything went down and they are not doing much for the people. Their votes will decrease in the next elections.
Kaleba Gaofele: We can only be happy with the ANC if they could have the same mentality they have when they need those votes. They are their own enemy. Viva ANC, but the question is for how long?
Zukiswa Salmon: The ANC will be a party with drastically dwindling numbers, that is if they continue on the downward spiral that they have embarked on currently.
