Bakers, public invited to cake fesitival
ALEXANDRA - Find out information about the upcoming Soweto Cake Festival...
Bakers from Alex who have a knack for baking cakes and embody a charitable spirit are urged to enter the first-ever Soweto Cake Festival Expo which kicks off on 12 November at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani.
The festival, a premier industry event, is open to all bakers from Johannesburg and surrounding areas.
Vanessa Majozi, event organiser from Joziline Media, said the occasion will offer a unique opportunity for culinary industry gurus, home-based traders and bakers starting out, to expose their baking skills and products to the public and potential clients and to help raise funds for a charitable cause.
In addition, it will link the exhibitors to others in the industry while exposing their services to thousands of visitors and will enrich them with education about the industry.
She said the funds raised from the exhibitors’ registration fees, the sale of their products and the public’s entry ticket sales will be used to assist underprivileged university students with fees for next year’s academic year in order to help build a brighter tomorrow for the nation’s future leaders.
Visitors to the exhibition stands will taste more than 40 cakes and drinks and there will be various stand sizes to exhibit from.
The booking prices for stands start from R500 and the closing date for bookings is 15 October.
Ticket prices into the exhibition will be R50 for pensioners, R20 for children U12 and R150 for VIPs.
