Schools once again invited to take part in exciting KFC Mini-Cricket tournament
JOHANNESBURG – Schools invited to take part in upcoming Mini-Cricket tour.
Schoolchildren around South Africa are once again invited to take part in another instalment of the successful KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas Tour this year.
The tournament, now in its fourth year, will see the Proteas side pitted against Mini-Cricket Kids in four action-packed matches taking place from December to February next year.
Speaking of the upcoming season was Cricket South Africa’s chief executive officer, Haroon Lorgat who hailed this season as one of the busiest and most exciting in recent memory. “The addition of the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas Tour to the already completed matches against New Zealand and Ireland, and the forthcoming games against Australia and Sri Lanka means that 2016/17 will be packed with stellar competition and excitement, as well as an added element of fun for all,” he said.
Echoing his sentiments was Proteas coach, Russell Domingo, who spoke of the highly-anticipated tour which he cited as one the highlights of the national team’s cricketing calendar.
“The kids gave us a real run last year and we are anticipating a similar test this year; my hope is that we can get off to a fast start, bring the game to the kids and go one better by finishing off with a series win,” Domingo said.
The upcoming matches will take place across four regions, allowing children from across the country to take part in the excitement, and will see one match played in December, two in January and a final one in February.
